American Electric Power contracted Williams Creek to complete stream restoration and riparian buffer enhancement services for the FDG Landfill Expansion, a project that resulted in unavoidable impacts of 3.64 acres of wetland and 1,805 linear feet of stream. Mitigation for the wetland impacts created 10.32 acres of low-gradient riverine wetland with a 2.12-acre upland buffer. Stream impacts were mitigated through the preservation and establishment of buffers on 3,210 linear feet of a perennial unnamed tributary to Kyger Creek and 650 linear feet of an unnamed tributary.

Williams Creek worked hand-in-hand with AEP's selected earthwork contractor to complete the installation of the wetland mitigation, providing the upland buffer and wetland seed mixes. Herbaceous plugs, trees, and shrubs were installed to further enhance the wetland creation and ensure success criteria are met.

Following wetland mitigation, Williams Creek began stream restoration services and riparian buffer enhancement with herbicide application and the installation of native seed mixes and plants. Stream restoration activities included installing river cobble and herbaceous plugs to restore ecological value.

After completing all mitigation construction and implementation activities, Williams Creek provided the required five years of monitoring and maintenance leading to the successful regulatory release in 2020.
